About me

Hey! My name is Xingyu Zhou (ๅ‘จๆ˜Ÿๅฎ‡).
I'm a researcher, electronics engineer, and computer science fan.
I am currently exploring the research of wide bandgap power devices, which can greatly improve the conversion efficiency of electrical energy, thereby reducing carbon emissions and achieving a greener world.

My passion

I am committed to researching technologies that can generate and convert electrical energy with higher efficiency and higher energy density, mainly including power electronics and wide-bandgap (WBG) semiconductor power devices (GaN, SiC, Ga2O3, etc.).
With the huge emission of global greenhouse gases, the earth is falling into an unprecedented climate crisis. Therefore, the sustainable replacement of fossil fuels through clean energy (such as wind energy and solar energy) has become the only solution, which puts forward an urgent requirement for electric energy conversion technology with higher efficiency and higher energy density.
Compared with traditional Si power devices, wide-bandgap power devices have ten times or even higher breakdown electric field, which means that for devices with the same power density, the size of WBG power devices is significantly reduced and the conversion efficiency is greatly improved. The unique material advantages of WBG make it possible for a long-lasting electric vehicle under current technical conditions, and it was first used in the inverter module of the ๐Ÿš— Tesla Model S3.

Bio

I grew up in Jiangsu Province, China, and obtained my BEng in Electrical Engineering and MSc in Condensed Matter Physics from the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2017 and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021, respectively.
